Been busy posting photos of Larry's relatives. Long tiring process..so much descriptions to put in. Hopefully I will find who some of them are that we don't know.
Today was so WINDY!! Chilly and windy. Minnesota in the fall. At least it wasn't raining.
Going to bed. Tired :)

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Well, today it is a gloomy fall day. Oct. 13, 2011. 51 degrees at 11:20 am.
Today, I think I have decided to start a blog with pictures for the Schlader side of the family. I hope some photos will be identified.
I talked to Nena today and she said Brooke fell off the balance beam yesterday in gymnastics and hurt her arm. Then someone bumped into her on the way out and it started hurting worse. Todd took xrays. So will see what the outcome is. Poor little honey. She is so active and athletic.
Sofie got lost at Kohl's department store! Her and Nena were going over to check out something and Nena looked to check on her progress and she was gone. She couldn't find her. Panic mounting, she went to the other girls and told them to look for Sofie. As Nena was working her way up to the front of the store trying to decide who to approach first, a voice came over the loudspeaker saying "would Nena Newman please come back to the service desk." She went back and there was Sofie.  The lady told her Sofie was very good and knew just what she should. She was standing in line waiting for her turn. When it was her turn she said, "my name is Sofie Newman and my mom is lost." What a hoot!  Thank God all was all right. I remember when Kenny and Nena were little and we had them out trick or treating down by the lake. Larry told them when he dropped them off that he would pick them up at the next house. Evidently they weren't listening. He was waiting and waiting and then he seen them coming.  He asked what took them so long and one of them answered "Oh Daddy, we thought you were lost!"  Guess a lot of parents have that trouble~ha ha.  Too bad I can't type as fast as I can talk! I think I need a thingy to transcribe what I say. The ipad has one. I tried it out..oh how funny that was how it interpreted what I said!!
Logan, Maggie and Nanc were here for a few minutes yesterday. Maggie is ready to move back from the island. Think it is getting pretty cold traveling across the water to come and go to school. I suppose it won't be long and they will have to move back.
Well, that's it for today.

Football game and scanner

On Wed. Oct. 5th, Logan's football team played a game at the high school under the big lights. Grand Rapids played Grand Rapids. So the Thunderhawks split into two teams and one was the Hawks (Logan's) and one was the Thunder. They were pretty well matched. Logan's team lost, but they played pretty well, except they racked up too many penalties and lost a lot of yardage. One nice thing was that Logan's Auntie Nena and the girls, Abbie, Brooke and Sofie came for his game. It worked out well because A and B had early out at school, so they got done at 1 o'clock. It made a late night for them getting back home. Nena texted and said all 3 girls fell asleep on the way home. I think it made Logan feel pretty good that they made the trip to cheer him on. It was nice to see them all too. They are growing up so fast! Abbie is the one changing the most I think. I think their moving to a bigger town and living in town has made some difference.
Larry enjoys going to Logan's games too, which I think Logan likes that we show up.
I got my flip pal scanner and have been busy scanning some of Larry's old family pictures. A lot of them aren't very good quality and some are tiny, about 1 2/3 in photo. The ones that aren't blurry enlarge pretty good. As far as I know a blurry picture isn't fixable, but with all the technology out there now, there could be a way to fix them that I don't know about. And of course, there are the good old double exposure pictures too. I remember doing that also. The films didn't roll up in a metal canister like they do now, so sometimes it was hard to tell if the film had been used already :). Anyway, I have been having a good time (mostly) scanning them and labeling them. I should be going through our old photos and marking them probably first. I am just as guilty as a lot of people and don't label my pictures or journal. I sure wish I would have through the years, because I don't remember so many things. Too late now, but that is one thing I wish I would have done. The kids have said "remember when we......", and I don't. That bothers me. They have been my whole life and I don't like that their are things I don't remember.
Well, that's it for now.

What to do with this blog?

I think since my family is what life is really about, that is what I should blog about. I see I created this blog in Dec of 2010, so it is quite a while since I created till I am posting. I am not going to worry about grammar much. I guess I have some of my own little grammarisms <--like that--< that the English teachers wouldn't approve of :)
Sofie called me a couple times last week and I remarked that she must know my number. She said she did and did I want to hear it? Sure, I said. "I'll be right back Gramma". Soon she came back and asked if I was ready..I sure was :)  "It's 1, 21, snowman3, 26, 6zero, 2 and a line with a circle on top."  Exactly right. The first time she called I looked at the caller ID and thought it was Nena. I said, "well, hello Nena!" She got the biggest laugh out of that! She said "I'm not Nena, I'm Sofie!"
I know I really wish I would have written down more of the cute things my grandkids and kids have said through the years..it would have made for some smiley reading.
This week I ordered a Flip-Pal scanner. It is a small battery operated scanner that I can take with me. I'm hoping I will be able to go with it visiting and scan photos that relatives have and will share. It will get here on Friday-in 2 days! I'm excited about it.  That's it for now.
